David Hondoyedzomba and the Blackways is a dynamic 8-piece group led by HD a.k.a David Hondoyedzomba, who have captivated audiences at various events with their breathtaking variety of tempos, beats, styles and raw onstage energy. The band has percussion-smooth rhythm section, smooth guitars, and soulful vocals all fuse effortlessly to intertwine jazz, jit, funk, hip-hop, reggae, afrobeat and afro-soul influencesFormally known as Back2Back, David Hondoyedzomba and the Blackways founded by talented and skill full guitarist cum singer; David Hondoyedzomba in 1997 back in Bindura. The band has won several competitions among others since its formation. David Hondoyedzomba and the Blackways strength and reputation is in their live performance. The band thrives in a festive atmosphere and has earned a well deserved reputation for getting crowds. David Hondoyedzamba & The Blackways have captivated audiences at numerous well respected events around Zimbabwe;Crossroads National finals 2nd place electric bands category 1999(Bulawayo), Chibuku Road to Fame 2003 (Bindura). Music crossroads provincial finals 1st place (Mushandirapamwe Hotel), Chibuku Road to Fame provincial finals 1st place (Harare), 2007 Chibuku Road to Fame national finals 3rd place (Glammis stadium Harare). They have also performed at the following events venues; World Wetlands Day (Victoria falls). HD currently celebrates 2 albums and single Uncle sam (2012), Baba munenge rombe the single ft Sulumani Chimbetu (2014), Bhora mberi (2015). The latest self entitled Album "HD" (2018)marks HD’s transformation from just being a performer but to a recording and commercial artist.
HD was Born 7 March, 1980 in Bindura mazowe district, learnt Gweru Chikumbiro primary school(1986-87), Bindura Primary School(1988-92), “O” Level Herman Gmainer sec school (1993-96), “A” level Chipindura High School (1997-98). Now also engaged with the ZNA as a music specialist.Loves basketball , movies and travelling .
